The material / St. Croix basalt
Stone that
knows heat.
In Finnish tradition, löyly is the life force of the sauna—the soft, enveloping steam that rises when water meets stone. Our St. Croix Basalt is mechanically rounded to mimic the smooth stones of Finland’s great rapids, providing a superior surface area for a gentler, more humid steam than traditional jagged quarry rock.
Triple-washed
Precision processed to eliminate quarry silica, black smoke, and first-use irritation.
Mechanically radiused
Softened edges protect heating elements and improve airflow for faster heat-up.
Volcanic integrity
Naturally sourced igneous trap rock, vetted free of sulfur veins and harmful odors.

A working philosophy
The Löyly
Code.
Six rules for a
better hot room.
Feed the stones.
Water is a tool. Use it with purpose. Listen to the room.
Earn the cold.
Stay long enough to feel the edge. Leave before you lose the plot.
No posturing.
The sauna is an equalizer. Nobody cares what you bench outside.
Bring good company.
Silence is welcome. So is the story that gets better every time.
Respect the room.
Leave it better than you found it. Dry the bench. Stack the wood.
Heat. Cold. Repeat.
The ritual works because you come back to it.

The hot room, outside
Built for the
long exhale.
From rough cedar to cold lake water, the best sauna culture lives in the contrast. Carry the wood. Pour the water. Sit until the room gets quiet.
